4th February: World Cancer Day

Cancer is the leading cause of death of workers in many different sectors. We talk about 100.000 deaths in Europe every year! The cause of their disease? Exposure to cancer-causing substances at work!

The 4th of February is World Cancer Day. Let’s use this day to have a close look at our own working environment and check if we have a risk to be exposed to hazardous substances.

Be aware of different types of risks:

1. agents used for processes directly
2. process-generated substances
3. exposure during cleaning and maintenance

For more details about specific substances, please check out these factsheets (available in about 18 EU languages) that help you identifying cancer-causing agents and explain what you can do to prevent exposure to it.
