A new solution about dust in the workplace was recently shared from the UK!
Dust is often considered a nuisance, but it can also be a killer in the workplace. For instance, dust can cause cancer in the lungs, asthma, allergies and even heart disease. In the UK, a guideline about dust was published to address the problems caused by dust and give employers advice on how to protect workers.
The guideline discusses the law in the UK on protecting the health safety and welfare of workers and the public, including additional regulations regarding dust. It also presents several control measures to reduce dust exposure. These include, e.g., substance replacement, enclosing specific procedures in the workplace (lock-down), and the provision of professional equipment. The guideline also opens up a discussion on the current limits for dust exposure, and whether or not this limit is too liberal.
