Preventing exposure to diesel engine emissions and other exhaust gases during car inspection

This case study details how the manager of DEKRA, a small independent company, part of a larger franchise, took action to prevent exposure to carcinogenic fumes in the workplace. With support from Cramif (Caisse régionale d’assurance maladie d’Île-de-France), a local statutory social security organisation, the manager set out to design and install a new exhaust ventilation system to improve the working environment.

This good practice example shows how it was possible to secure external funding and expertise to design a simple and sustainable solution. The system has already been used as a model for improvements in other workshops.
