Setting and problem

The European Lung Foundation (ELF) was founded by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) in 2000 with the aim of bringing together patients, the public and respiratory professionals to positively influence lung health. There are many factors that can have a dramatic effect on lung health and disease, such as occupational risk factors. Work related lung conditions are conditions that have been caused or made worse by the materials someone is exposed to at work. Examples of work related lung conditions are:

–          Work-related asthma

–          Allergic alveolitis

–          Work-related chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

–          Mesothelioma which is a form of cancer caused by asbestos

–          Lung cancer

Solution

The European Lung Foundation has created an online quiz and tool aimed at workers. The quiz is made for people who are worried their workplace might be affecting their breathing or lung health. It will help someone understand if their workplace may be a risk to their breathing or lung health, and it provides advice on what to tell a healthcare professional.

The quiz can be found at: http://yourlungsatwork.europeanlung.org/
